Procurement Manager

Do you have purchasing experience in a manufacturing/engineering SME? Are you someone with strong communication and people-management skills?

A manufacturing business in Nottingham is on the lookout for a Procurement Manager to take the lead on supply chain development. You’ll have 2/3 direct reports and play an active role in feeding purchasing information to the production team.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the supply base and source various components at the best possible price.
  • Placing orders and ensuring on time deliveries.
  • Working alongside Production and Engineering teams to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Vendor management and evaluation.

Overview

  • Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, i.e., 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday–Thursday (half an hour for lunch); 08.00am to 1.00pm Friday (no lunch break)
  • Contract: Permanent, full time.

Requirements

  • Crucially, you will need to be proactive when it comes to managing suppliers and working towards lead times. Being in a position to hit the ground running will be hugely beneficial.
  • You’ll also need to be someone who enjoys being hands-on. As it’s an SME environment, being able to ‘muck in’ and help out on all fronts is key.
  • Communication and relationship building skills are absolutely vital, as you’ll be managing a small team but also working cross-functionally with other departments.
  • Experience using purchasing systems within ERP/MRP is also essential.
