Vacancy: CNC Milling /Turning Team Leader (Afternoon Shift)

We have a new opportunity for an experienced CNC machining supervisor on a permanent basis. TecQuipment produce and supply over 400 different engineering educational products worldwide.  Working as part of a small team, your role will be to coordinate activities on the Afternoon shift and operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes to produce components which go into making our products. The work is varied, interesting and demanding as we expect high standards for quality and performance. Our goods are manufactured in accordance with ISO9001 quality procedures.

Duties will also include: 

  • Coordinating activities in CNC Machining areas in line with the Production Schedule.
  • Agree daily machine loading for the Afternoon shift and ensure machine utilisation is optimised, ensuring they are set to run through breaks and after normal working hours where possible.
  • Programming/Setting/Operating CNC Milling Machines and/or Lathes to produce components.
  • Setting and running multiple machines when the component and/or batch sizes allow. 
  • Set the CNC Machines to manufacture components in according with production information (either personally or by another operator).
  • Supervise Setter/Operators in the Cell and liaise with other staff as required, ie. Day Shift Team Leader, Machine Shop Manager.
  • Optimise processes to ensure manufacturing is cost effective/efficient and update/improve set and process times where possible.

  • Hours:  37 hours per week,(2pm-10pm Monday to Thurs with 20 minutes break, 11am to 4pm Friday (no break)    
  • Rate of Pay:  Competitive rate of pay + shift allowance. Overtime is paid after 37 hours at time and a half. Pension, life assurance, free parking, clean working environment. 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service.



  • Small-team supervisory experience in hi-tech CNC environment
  • Programming, setting and operating experience (preferably HAAS and/or Mazak machines)
  • Conventional Milling/Turning experience
  • Positive approach and flexible attitude


  • Edgecam (or similar CAM) programming knowledge
  • Apprentice trained in similar environment
  • Certificate in Supervision/Management
  • Recognised H&S training
