Vacancy: Production/Planning Assistant

With a record, export driven, order book, new products and exciting plans to upgrade our planning system we want to strengthen our Production Admin team. We are looking for someone who has excellent IT skills combined with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business. You will be in the centre of a busy manufacturing operation, supporting the Production Planner and production management. You will need to work well under pressure and thrive in a busy environment, responding to changing situations in the factory whilst retaining a structured approach.

TecQuipment is a high mix / low volume manufacturer with over 400 different products within our range. We have a well-established production process that enables us to manage the complexity that comes with this type of business. To make the system work we need people with a can-do attitude who can spot issues in advance and follow-up to find solutions to ensure we meet our promised delivery dates. We currently use a Microsoft Dynamics ERP system and are in the process of upgrading this to SAP B1.

As a critical part of the Production Management Team you will play an active part in managing the production operation, supporting and standing in for the Production Planner whilst also supporting the production management by chasing parts in for builds that are about to start, highlighting and supporting the resolution of any issues.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Standing in for the Production Planner when they are unavailable, adding new sales orders to the Plan and adjusting to achieve the best delivery dates without overloading Production
  • Supporting the Production Planner by making adjustments to the Plan as required
  • Working as liaison between the Planning and the Shop Floor to ensure Planning are aware of shop floor issues and the shop floor is aware of Planning priorities
  • Chasing parts in for builds that are about to start and keeping the production management team up to date with issues and expected delivery dates.

  • Hours: 37 hours per week, i.e. 8.00am – 4.30pm. Monday-Thursday (1/2 hour for lunch), 8.00am – 13.00pm Friday (no lunch break)

  • 1 year working within a production planning or production management/administration role
  • Experience of using an advance MRP/ERP system within a manufacturing business
  • Tenacious and positive with a can-do attitude
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, working to tight deadlines and able to find solutions to keep things on track
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Good level of MS Excel capability
  • Excellent communication skills


  • Previous experience as a production planner
  • Knowledge of engineering design and production processes
  • Experience of SAP B1 ERP system
  • Experience of Siemens Preactor planning software
  • Experience within an SME manufacturing business
