Vacancy: Semi-Skilled Sheet Metal Worker

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Semi Skilled Sheet-Metal Worker to join our busy and highly motivated team on a permanent contract, within our Covid secure working environment.

The work is varied, interesting and demanding and we expect high standards for quality and performance. With a good level of experience in a sheet-metal working environment you will be expected to support the manufacture of sheet-metal components. You will join our manufacturing department, ensuring that quality standards are met on all components, by following company processes, and procedures. Our products are designed to support the teaching of engineering principles, and all the finished work is visible to the end customers. We pride ourselves on delivering an excellent quality of finish and it is therefore imperative that you have great attention to detail and work to an exceptionally neat standard. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • To receive deliveries of sheet metal blanks and locate in designated area (along with booking parts in using MRP system
  • To pick components from storage areas and present to sheet-metal workers (in line with Production Schedule)
  • To prepare sheet-metal blanks prior to use (including deburring, stud welding, inserting rivets, etc)
  • To prepare surfaces of sheet-metal or machined components prior to Painting or external finishing processes (eg Anodising, plating or powder coating)


  • Location: Long Eaton, Derbyshire (Nottinghamshire/Deryshire Border)
  • Hours: 37 hours per week - 7.00am to 3.30pm Mon–Thurs (30 mins lunch), 7.00am to 12.00pm Fri (no lunchbreak)
  • Benefits: £18000 - £22000 dependant on experience, pension, life assurance, generous holiday entitlement, clean working environment with free parking



  • Sheet-metal experience to a semi-skilled level within a similar hi-tech environment including use of hand tools, stud-guns, Pemserters, etc.
  • Handling and storage of laser-cut sheet-metal blanks
  • Preparation and surface finishing of sheet-metal components using hand and air tools
  • Able to work accurately to deadlines
  • Good level of experience with PC’s and/or MRP systems
  • An ability to read 1st and 3rd angle engineering drawings
  • An enthusiastic team player with a can-do/flexible attitude
  • Continual process improvement attitude


  • Relevant qualifications
  • MIG and/or TIG welding on thin gauge materials (mild steel and stainless steel)
  • Experience of CNC folding
  • A willingness to help in other areas of the factory should the demand arise
