TecQuipment Competition - Nottingham Trent University

1st Year Mechanical Engineering students at Nottingham Trent University have been set a new challenge in their Thermofluids module to help them prepare for the real world of work at the end of their degree. The students are required to design a new experiment using one of TecQuipment’s fluid mechanics products to investigate a fluid phenomenon of their choosing.

For example, they may choose to look at an aerodynamics problem using the wind tunnel and balance, or a pump efficiency problem using the centrifugal pump and propeller kit. The students will then enter their projects into the TecQuipment competition by submitting a video of the team demonstrating the experiment and discussing the outcomes.

TecQuipment is also hosting the students at the company’s headquarters in Long Eaton in January, where the products that they will be experimenting on are designed and manufactured all under one roof. During this visit students will hear from some of TecQuipment’s leading engineers, sharing their experiences of how to be successful at a career in engineering.

This follows an ongoing relationship between TecQuipment and Nottingham Trent University, where preparing engineers for the world of work is high up on the priority list. In September, TecQuipment’s Managing Director Simon Woods joined this very same group of engineers during their introduction week presenting his success as an engineer rising through the ranks, to becoming the MD of a successful local company.
