Vacancy: Electrical and Strain Gauge Fitter

Due to continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Electrical & Strain Gauge Fitter to join our busy and highly motivated multi-disciplinary team. You will need relevant knowledge and skills.

The work is varied, interesting and demanding as we expect high standards for quality and performance. With good practical knowledge, you will join our electrical assembly department in order to build products within set timeframes whilst ensuring that quality standards are met on all products, processes, and procedures. You will also be working within Strain Gauge wiring gauges to measure axial loads, bending torsion and tension. In-house training will be provided for the successful candidate. Our products are designed to support the teaching of engineering principles, and all the finished work is visible to the end customers, therefore it is imperative that you have great attention to detail and work to a neat standard.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Building products to the required standard (in accordance with ISO9001 quality standards)
  • Duties will include wiring/cabinet wiring/panel wiring/soldering/crimping/cutting wires to length/stripping wires/wire termination
  • Fitting strain gauges to high standard both visual and functional
  • Complete required surface preparation for strain gauges, measurement, layout, alignment, and bonding
  • Work from electrical drawings/diagrams
  • Self-inspection of all work produced
  • Maintain accurate bookings of jobs within our computer system

Role Requirements

Essential

  • Relevant previous electrical fitting experience
  • Previous panel wiring experience
  • High quality soldering
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • High accuracy and attention to detail including fine/small soldering
  • Work in a precise neat way
  • Work alongside/with mechanical fitters

Desirable

  • Previous experience soldering and wiring PCB’s
  • Knowledge of strain gauge
  • Knowledge of strain gauge bridges wiring
  • Ability to work to ISO9001 procedures
  • Relevant qualifications
  • Experience of building educational equipment/products

Details

  • Location: Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, i.e. 8.00am – 4.30pm. Monday-Thursday (30 mins lunch), 8.00am – 13.00pm Friday (no lunch break)
  • Benefits: £22,000 - £26,000, pension, life assurance, generous holiday entitlement, pleasant working environment with free parking.
