The AF10 is a small-scale wind tunnel with an electric fan and adjustable air flow control. It is the essential base unit for eight different experiment modules that demonstrate key principles and phenomena of air flow. 

The unit consists of a sturdy steel framework on which is mounted a fan which supplies air via a flow-control valve to a specially designed plenum chamber and aerodynamically shaped contraction. 

Each of the experiment modules fits either to the plenum chamber or to the contraction. The air then exits the experiment module through the bench top and emerges at an exhaust at the rear of the unit. When smoke is used in experiments for visualisation purposes users can fit flexible ducting to the exhaust to direct waste smoke safely away. 

Toggle clamps hold the experiment modules, reducing the need for tools. Pressure measurement connections use reliable quick-release couplings. Both of these features make the changeover from one experiment to another simple and quick. 

The bench format of the equipment makes it compact, easy to move and store. The unit also has handy shelves and storage space which is ideal to store experiment modules when they are not in use. 

The minimum requirement is the AF10 and one of the experiment modules, plus the AF10a manometer as required. Other experiments can be purchased at a later date allowing a complete system to be built up as time and budgets allow.

AF11 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench to provide experiments that investigate and support Bernoulli's equation.

AF12 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench to provide experiments that measure and compare the effects of drag force on objects mounted in an airstream that have the same projected frontal area but different shape. Facilities to compare drag force measurement methods are included.

AF13 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench for the analysis of an emerging jet-stream and its break-up as it moves away from the outlet. Also allows velocity distribution and momentum flux to be evaluated.

AF14 - Experiment

An optional experiment module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench. For students to study boundary layers on rough and smooth flat plates. Includes a pitot to measure velocity profiles. Also allows experiments with pressure gradients.

AF15 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench to investigate the radial pressure distribution around a bend and the pressure distribution along the curved inner and outer walls of the bend.

AF16 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench to investigate the effect of a jet attaching to an adjacent wall examining the Coandă effect evaluation of attachment and separation and demonstration of a fluidic switch/flip-flop (fluidics).

AF17 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench to provide facilities for flow visualisation experiments.

AF18 - Experiment

An experimental module for use with the AF10 Air Flow Bench to provide the facilities for investigating the pressure distribution around an aerofoil.

AF10A - Ancillary

A 14-tube multi-range water manometer for use with the AF10 Airflow Bench.

VDAS AF1300 - Base Unit

An open circuit suction subsonic wind tunnel with a working section of 300 mm by 300 mm and 600 mm long.

VDAS AF1600 - Base Unit

An open circuit suction subsonic wind tunnel with a working section of 600 mm by 600 mm and 1250 mm long. All instrumentation required to begin experimentation is included.

A floor standing suction type subsonic wind tunnel with smoke visualisation. It allows demonstrations and student investigations into the flow of air around a wide variety of different shaped models.
